A 34-year-old man is in trouble for trying to bring a fake bomb into the criminal courthouse in downtown Houston.

The device that Boris E. Perez reportedly had in his backpack was displayed. It contained, police say, circuit boards, wires connected to a soda can and even a remote control.

Perez was at the courthouse to face a burglary charge. He's now charged with possession of a hoax bomb.

Sometimes you just have to wonder.
