Adios Ernesto

Well, we weathered the storm just fine over the weekend. Just like in Houston, the local Richmond weather-mongers foretold nothing but doom and gloom as Hurricane Ernesto quickly downgraded to tropical storm status, dumping lots and lots of rain across North Carolina and Virginia. And just like Houston, all the junior reporters spent the weekend standing out in the rain, ankle-deep in whatever puddles they could find.

Here in the Richmond area, we did get a lot of water. There was even a little flooding in certain areas, apparently ones that see that kind of flooding just about every time a major storm turns up the east coast like this. We lost electricity for a few hours, but it was nothing like some of the storms we've seen back in Houston.

Shebird is stable here at the house, with hospice care coming each day. The kids are trying to settle into the new schools, and I am trying to remember again how to do real work. I had no idea how lazy being a manager could make you.

We miss everyone, but are still hoping to be back in Texas as soon as possible. Everyone here sends love to everyone back home.
